Both the yellow and blue flags are 16" long. The blue flag has been inserted into the hole created from this machine to a depth of 9". The yellow flag has only been inserted enough to stand on its own to show you how deep the holes are. This machine injects compressed air into the ground and fractures the soil profile with very minimal surface disruption! This will help our greens drain and promote stronger and healthier turf.

On Monday July 21st, we will be performing a procedure on the greens that injects air into the soil profile, fractures the soil, thus allowing water to move laterally in the soil. This will help promote root growth and healthier turf. The golf course will remain open however, we will be closing one or two holes at a time to perform the procedure. Please move to the next open hole. Play can resume immediately following the procedure.
Thank You! I am beginning to think Lake Winola has a target on it! Between yesterday morning and evening, we received another 0.8" of rain.
Yesterday's thunderstorm dropped another 0.5" of rain once again leaving behind saturated soils on our greens. Today we are venting the greens using small solid tines. This process helps allow the water to evaporate at a faster rate and also creates an air pocket in the soil. Once the greens are rolled, the smooth putting surface will return to normal.
The golf course has been opened back up but there are still many piles of debris to be cleaned up. This is the remains of the gazebo and the tree which fell on it!
Two days of severe weather have been wreaking havoc on the golf course. Wednesdays storm dropped a huge amount on rain in a short period of time, flooding the pro shop and destroying our bunkers on the course. Last nights storm blew trees over on top of the gazebo, snapped branches and left some hanging in the trees. Yesterday we only fixed half of the bunkers on the course and once again they are ruined. About 0.8" of rain.
I'm sorry the course has to be closed on the 4th of July. It can be very dangerous to be underneath a tree with branches hanging from above. We are working as fast as we can to get the course opened up for the holiday weekend. Thank You for your patience and understanding!! In an effort to prevent vandalism to the golf course during the holiday, there will be armed security officers on patrol throughout the night. The golf course is closed to everyone at dusk!! Citations will be issued for trespassing so please remember to stay off of the golf course at night!
Thank You |
