I had to opportunity to go to GCSAA headquarters in Lawerence, Kansas earlier this week. I attended the Chapter Delegates meeting there on Tuesday 10/27 and Wednesday 10/28. It has been a few years since I have been there but it is always nice to get back to.

Based upon the forecast for the upcoming weekend, our first FROST will likely occur for the Fall of 2016. It is very important to stay off of the golf course when there is FROST on the ground. It may be hard to believe but the proof will be in the dead grass that will show up a few days after a person walks on it.
FROST is frozen dew. Ice crystals form on the inside and outside of the plant. When a person walks on grass with FROST on it, the cells inside the plant break and become damaged. Dead grass will appear in the shape of a foot print a few days later. Please be patient if you plan on playing golf in the morning and if you have any questions, please let me know. Locations are still available to plant a tree to memorialize loved ones. The tree species varies based upon the selected location but will be one of the following: Northern Red Oak, Scarlet Oak or Pin Oak. The cost is $250.00 per tree and includes a stainless steel memorial plaque which will grow and expand with the tree. Please contact me at (570) 378-2249 if you would like to plant a tree. We will begin planting this week. Thank You!
Progress is being made on our new Pro Shop inside but also outside! We have used nearly 100 tons of topsoil around 3 side of the new building and landscaping has begun. We will continue to landscape and create walkways to help beautify the exterior of the new Pro Shop!
